Nanette Barto gets Court Qualified as an Expert Witness
February , 2009
As a mentor, there is a specific satisfaction in a student succeeding. Today, one my Forensic Document Examination student Nanette Barto was officially court qualified in the Oakland Superior Court.
Now, as part of my ongoing commitment to both my students and their clients, I woke up at 5:30am and flew to Oakland to be in court, ready to testify… just in case she needed a back up opinion. But, the client wanted me there, just in case the judge did not accept her as an expert witness.
I know it sounds like a lot of work, but there is only one “first time” to testify and having a mentor at your side can be priceless. In fact, Nanette had her pointer in hand and “court exhibits” when I arrived into the courtroom.
