Dear
Michelle, My
life is really, let�s say, not so
smooth. Until I was 9, I lived
with my sister and grandma.
When my grandma was diagnosed with
cancer, she made a call to my
mother. My step-grandpa put my
sister and me on a Grey hound bus
and sent us to Fort Knox, KY.
It was a shock to meet my mother,
her current (at that time) husband,
my half-sister and 2 half-brothers. My
grandma was kind, beautiful and
caring. She was golden brown,
skinny and tall. But, my
mother was totally different.
She was short, fat, with a big
hair-do. She would beat me
with a broomstick. Once, when
she was mad, she said she would
teach me a lesson and threw a pot of
boiling hot green beans at me.
That�s when I started running away
and getting in lots of trouble. I
want desperately to get myself in a
better direction. But my
family is nuts and they bring me on
the brink of going to the loony bin.
I
am sorry that I�m no good at
spelling and the handwriting is more
like chicken scratches. But I
want you to see how and who I
am. Please be honest. Thank

what your chicken scratches say
about �how and who� you are. First,
do you see how you put capital
letters where they do not belong?
Writers who use capital
letters chaotically, as in
�THe BrinK oF going To THe
Lunny Bin,� don�t like to follow
rules. Also,
notice the erratic size of your
letters. For example, in the
word �brink� the �B�,
�r� and �K� are large while
the �i� and �N� are
teeny. You extreme variations
in the size of your letters show
that you can be unpredictable. I�m
going to give you an assignment and
no rule breaking: I want you to
write in a journal everyday.
Think about not only what you are
writing, but also how you�re
writing. Place capitals only
where they are suppose to go.
And work on regulating the size of
your letters. It will take a
great deal of concentration.
As you get better control of your
writing, think about how you can get
better control of your life. Write
