I know like many people nowadays, you probably want to scream \u201cStop! Not another word about Charlie Sheen\u201d. Believe me, I hear ya loud and clear! But guess what. As graphologists, we\u2019ve got the opportunity to see two of Sheen\u2019s writings written about 20 years apart.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Example A<\/strong> \u2013 Note written by Charlie Sheen around 1991 when he was about 26 years old. The note was written to Ginger Lynn, an adult film star that Sheen dated in the early 90\u2019s. Lynn is taking advantage of the Sheen hysteria and is auctioning some of the items she received as gifts from Sheen. One of the items is a book, \u201c1991 Consumer Report, The Complete Drug Reference\u201d. Below is a handwritten note by Sheen as inscribed on a page inside the book.<\/p>\n Block printing.<\/p>\n Controlled.<\/p>\n Desire to communicate. Withholds revealing or dealing with feelings and emotions.<\/p>\n Example B <\/strong>\u2013 Check dated January 26, 2011, written by Sheen, at age 45.<\/p>\n When analyzing any handwriting, it is preferable to have more than the few lines we have in each of these samples, however, even from a few lines and a signature we can gather information about the person and at a minimum raise questions about characteristics to explore about the person. When we are working from copies and not the original writing, we must remember that we lose information about things like the pressure and the size of the writing. The writing could have been reduced or enlarged from its original form. Still, we can judge some things about the size of the letters as they relate in size to other letters in the writing.<\/p>\n In the 1991 writing, we see a controlled Charlie. <\/strong>The legible block printing tells us the writer wants to be understood and can work well with others in the work world, but does not do well in revealing or dealing with feelings and emotions. The spacing between the words reinforces the distance the writer puts between himself and others. We see a straight, level baseline which indicates emotional maturity and reliability. A level line means a level head. The baseline is slanted upwards which indicates a person that always looks at the bright side of life and has a high energy level. If I were to see more of Charlie\u2019s writing from this time period and it also showed such an upward slant, I would question if his optimism and energy level were sustainable. Life is a marathon, the aim is to keep your energy expenditure relatively even throughout which means you need to slow down when running uphill and speed up when running downhill. If you \u201cuse up\u201d your energy, you \u201cburn out\u201d and it takes a while to build up the energy level again.<\/p>\n The \u201ct\u201d bars tell us a lot. We see a zest for life (length of \u201ct\u201d bar) and a reinforcement of the writer\u2019s optimism (upward slant of \u201ct\u201d bar). The writer\u2019s willpower to complete a task or job is evident (the heavy weight of the \u201ct\u201d bar remains the same, it does not fade out). At 26 years old, Charlie\u2019s sarcasm was already evident. (\u201ct\u201d bar starts out heavy and ends in a sword point). Sarcasm is a self-defense mechanism. So many times sarcastic people feel so clever as they deliver their biting hurtful remarks not realizing that it only diminishes their character and self-respect. Sarcasm is hurtful to the people it is directed at and the person delivering the sarcasm is seen as arrogant and self-defeating. We also see that the \u201ct\u201d bars do not touch the stem, which would indicate a person that has visionary goals and could be a dreamer that never brings their dreams to fruition. However, in stacking the willpower trait against this, the strong willpower along with the bold, fluid writing would indicate that the writer is a person that is visionary and does accomplish the high goals they\u2019ve set for themselves. These are just some of the characteristics in the Example A writing. What else do you see? Your comments are welcomed.<\/p>\n ------------ Special Newsletter Reader Offer ------------\r\n\r\n In Example B, the check written in January, 2011<\/strong>, provides us an opportunity to see a writing with signs of unreliability<\/strong>. It has been suggested in some of the articles written about Sheen lately that he is an actor and all of this is a put on \u2013 the same way Joaquin Phoenix\u2019s act was questioned a few years ago. However, when we look at the check written by Charlie in January, we see signs of an unreliable person.<\/p>\n To look at unreliability, let\u2019s first define what is \u201creliability\u201d? Wikipedia\u2019s definition is: \u2026in general, reliability is the ability of a person to perform and maintain their functions in routine circumstances, as well as in hostile or unexpected circumstances\u2026. So a reliable person is dependable, we know what to expect. An unreliable person is unpredictable, fickle, insecure, unsound, unstable, and\u2026well you get the picture.<\/p>\n The graphology characteristics that make up unreliability can be seen in most anyone\u2019s handwriting. In order to question a writer\u2019s unreliability we must see at least five (5) different signs of unreliability in their handwriting. To clarify, if you see a variable slant but not other factors of unreliability, then the person is probably moody but still is a dependable person. We need to see multiple signs to indicate an unreliable person. These are six (6) signs of unreliability that I see in Charlie\u2019s writing in Example B. There are more even in just these few lines of writing. 4. Looped \u201cd\u201d stem \u2013 fear of not being loved – common self-defense mechanism for person is to strike first because they are so sure that the other person will be attacking them \u2013 so as a defense they strike first. Even if you try to be comforting and flattering to the person, they still are suspicious of you because they wonder \u201cWhy is this person being so nice to me? They must be up to something.\u201d Very difficult in relationships with persons with large loops in \u201cd\u201d stem because there is no winning ground for you to stand on with them. In closing, Charlie Sheen has a tour of \u201cshows\u201d he\u2019s presenting across the country.\u00a0 His first show in Detroit was a dud.\u00a0 It was basically Charlie acting like he had invited several thousand people to his house to watch him do whatever he felt like.\u00a0 After a lot of booing, the show ended abruptly after about 90 minutes.\u00a0 Sheen and his producer revamped the show for his Chicago appearance the next night.\u00a0 An interviewer was on stage with Sheen providing a more guided show which was better received by the Chicago audience.\u00a0 Many of the show attendees are loyal Sheen fans and others admit they bought the tickets on speculation they may be witnesses to a Sheen meltdown.<\/p>\n Sheen is on a maniac high that is as high as Mt. Everest.\u00a0 And that\u2019s a big place to fall from.\u00a0 It\u2019s not a question of IF it will happen, it\u2019s WHEN.\u00a0 Sheen is human and subject to all of its frailties\u2019.<\/p>\n Submitted by: Cindy G. \nThe large capitals at the beginning of just about every word and the \u201cC\u201d in the \u201csignature\u201d reinforce the Charlie we see as a conceited person with a distorted ego, and grandiose concept of self. Stories have it that in the Roman days, Roman generals would be given a parade called a \u201cTriumph\u201d where they would be showered with praise and attention by crowds of citizens as the generals rode through town celebrating their victory. During this victory parade, a slave would ride with the general. The slave\u2019s duty was to whisper in the general\u2019s ear \u201cYou are only a mortal\u201d. Too bad Sheen didn\u2019t have a staff person riding with him whispering the same in his ear through the years. Seems like the only message Charlie heard was \u201cDo more drugs.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/a>\r\n

\n2. Gigantic capitals \u2013 sees things out of reality, delves in fantasy \u2013 notice how large the \u201cC\u201d is in the word cash
\n3. Signature – strange, complex, and centripetal (back to the left) movements \u2013 desire to impress in order to hide deep feelings of inferiority<\/p>\n
\n5. Extremely large writing \u2013 notice how large the signature is written – reinforces that the writer is vain, shows feelings of grandeur, and has grandiose delusions of self-importance.
\n6. Variable size of the letters \u2013 lack of balance and moody – this characteristic reinforces what we see with the variable slant<\/p>\n
