Hi! Question….does the Bluffer trail always defined as a deceiver?
or can it be defined as someone who is rough and blunt but not unkind in manner?

I need to ask other questions like do they have self-deceit and reticence trait. If it is a basic trait then I can always say that a bluffer is a deceiver…I just think that a bluffer is not always negative nor a poker player…

  2. Kerry,

You will notice that “bluffer” is not a trait in the 201 dictionary and actually not found in the basic course. It is part of Milton Bunker’s dictionary (IGAS) and seems to be accurate enough. We do include it in the advanced course and Walker does discuss it at times.

in general, the trait is very very similar to the determination stroke and that is confusing to new students. Essentially, the trait of bluffer is “positiveness”, “certainty” blunt ending in the lower zone, which mixes both the absoluteness of “no sarcasm” / single meaning with determination. I don’t see any lying or deceit as part of the trait.

Reticence would enhance the trait. Intelligence and secretive would enhance the trait.

Talkative would decrease the trait (inhibit.)

I don’t see how blunt equates to blunt or unkind. Blunt can be unkind, but not bluffer / determination… unless their desire to get what they want hurts another in the way.

    Good question.
